Hey everyone! It's Amy, Amelia and I have been talking and we are so sorry we haven't posted in a while. Happy 2021! We have some new updates and quarantine activities!
First on the list, my friend from school and her little sister have a special website where they makes things out of fuse beads and then sell them. After that, they take all of the profits that they make and donate them to International Neighbors Charlottesville. Recently, I started offering my homemade earrings to her site. Even if you would not like to buy anything, we would really appreciate you looking at the products and telling your friends about this. Everything here is under $4.00. The site is: https://neerals.wixsite.com/sharielloart. Thanks for your support!
Now, some fun activities for you and your family!
Floor Tic-Tac-Toe:
Materials: Duct tape, 10 bean bags (5 of one color, 5 a different color).
Use duct tape to lay down a grid of 9 squares (3 squares by 3 squares) and then separate the bean bags by color so that all of one color are on one side and all of the others are opposite. Next, separate your family into two teams. One team will go first and throw one bean bag into a square. Go back and forth until one team gets 3 in a row.
Taking a Hike:
There are hiking and walking trails all over Charlottesville! Some of them even allow you to bring dogs if they are on a leash. My family loves to bring our dogs, Snowy and Trixie to Walnut Creek. We like to do this two mile loop there. Some places you can go include; Turk Mountain, Monticello Trail, Walnut Creek, Riverview Park (The Rivanna), and Ragged Mountain Nature Area. There are tons more but those are a start. All are great to get some fresh air!
Biking:
Amelia and I both love biking, especially together! Something that would be fun is going on a bike ride with your family. Lots of the places above are great for biking, just check to make sure they are bike friendly before you go. You can also ask your parents if they think you are old enough to go on a bike ride by yourself or with a friend, just make sure you are both comfortable with it and know your boundaries, limitations, and time limits.
Wow in the World:
Wow in the World is an amazing podcast for kids, and it even has some fun activities that can go with it. The site is: https://tinkercast.com/shows/wow-in-the-world//
A challenge for you and your family:
Can you go unplugged (without any devices) for 48 hours (two days)? If you have to do schoolwork, that's fine, but don't watch any shows, play any games, or email, call, or text any friends. Instead of watching a show, go outside and read a book. Instead of playing a game on your moms phone or your dads computer, play a board game with your parents (and/or siblings)! Instead of calling, texting, or emailing friends, write them a letter than ask your parents to help you address and mail it! Turn off all of the devices in your house unless you are going to do schoolwork. If you, your parent or sibling, or your whole family completes this challenge, email belmontgirlsinc@gmail.com and tell us how you did and what you did for entertainment!
Email us if you have a friend who completed this challenge or had fun with one of the activities below.
Happy New Year!
Amy
